Being perfect is not at God’s mercy but rather at your disposal. You are the one to decide whether you want to be perfect or not. Jesus admonishes us to be perfect Matt.5:48.so the question now is, what does it means for one to be perfect and what does a person, stands to gain for being perfect.
From our anchor scripture, Jesus points it out what it means to be perfect and what do one stand to gain from being perfect. Tradition and Religion has taught us about perfection in a way that it seems unattainable and it has left a scare on the mind of its followers that perfection is not possible for humans to attain, so if perfection is not possible for humans to attain, then why should Jesus Christ our high priest and our Lord enjoined us to be perfect. The bible made us to understand that He (JESUS CHRIST) is touched by our infirmities, it means, He also went through what we are going through so the challenges and limitations on earth Christ is aware of them and if He is aware of them and still, He ask us to be perfect, then He must have also pointout how we can enjoy perfection. being perfect is not only limited to your spiritual life, it effects every part of your being, spiritually, mentally, physically, financially, etc.
When Jesus said be ye perfect ,He was not just talking about one being perfect spiritually ,No, He is talking about perfection that touches the whole phase of human endeavor .the man in our anchor scripture was doing good but Jesus wanted the man to do more than good and that is perfect. And Jesus taught the man that being perfect is to change your focus from being self concious to be more concious of serving others. Any time Jesus talk about perfection it’s always in relation to serving others going the extra miles to see to it that someone is being blessed. Being perfect is not just keeping up the commandments rather its touching lives with the commandments you are keeping. This is about going beyond God’s word to reaching out with God’s word. And the master said when this becomes your habit, then He becomes the sustainer and restorer of every of your needs and desires. Heaven sees to it that your cause is fulfilled. Being perfected is a call to become a blessing, going after perfection takes you beyond being blessed to become a blessing. As you know becoming a blessing is higher and superior to being blessed and that is what perfection brings to your way.
Only those who are service oriented become served, what you don’t sow you are not permitted to reap and sowing perfection allows you to become perfected. Change your mind set from the traditional understanding that religion has taught us by reducing perfection to a life of being spiritual extremist. Know that is not what being perfect means, that is just a self acclaimed way of being perfect. Christ’s definition of being perfect is touching lives with your life just as He did on the cross of Calvary when He changed every life that ever lived and those that will ever live through sacrificing his own life on the cross of cavalry and this is what He meant by "take your cross and follow me".
Most people have reduced perfection to an abragadizement of self worth but rather it’s actually making lives of people worth full through your worth.
It is not about how many scriptures you read but rather a function of how many people have been touched by the scripture you read. Is not a matter of how long you can pray but rather is a system that put to cognizance of how many lives are being touched by your prayer.
Remember serving humanity is the path way to becoming perfected.
