Over The Pharisees
For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and the Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter in to the kingdom of heaven.
So the BIG question is who are the Scribe that our righteousness must exceed their, if and only if we want to make heaven in the same vain who are
the Pharisees.
The Pharisees are Jews Sect that is very knowledgeable in the matters of the Law. They are believed to do things with great accuracy. Their counterpart the Scribes are just like them but a little bit different in the sense that they devote their time, to write and teach the laws.
So if these sects are extremely knowledgeable people, why did Christ ask his followers to go beyond them, to strive above their mark, the answer to these questions is not far fetch;
“But woe unto you Scribes and Pharisees, Hypocrites, for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men for ye neither go in yourselves neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in”.
Christ doesn't want followers that proclaim self righteousness but do not have a right stand before God.
A call to live above the standards of Pharisees is a wake up call for every believer to check mate him/her self and see if he or she is living for the glory of the King of kings and the Lord of lords or living for self glory.
The bible refers to these sect of people as having the form of godliness but they denying the power thereof, therefore Christ is instructing his disciple and every other person that wants to follow him that Christianity is more than Quoting Scriptures it goes beyond Sing Songs in Church, its above preaching, its the effectual daily and continuous living in the Spirit for the Spirit unto the Spirit for the glory of God, mind you Jesus said the Father desires those who will worship him in Spirit and in Truth because those are the people that will experience the manifold greatness of his power.
Christianity without power is a mere caricature of the gospel of salvation.
So what ever you do make sure you are doing it in the Spirit and not after your understanding The Letter Kills but the Spirit gives Life.
Shalom
